Scheduling a Zwift Group Workout and how it affects the plan

Hi all,

I just started a new training plan but tomorrow my Club is doing a Zwift group workout.

It will be shorter, 56min and 62 TSS, than what the TrainerRoad AI recommends for me, 90min 106TSS.

I currently have the extra time, so if needed I can do an additional workout that day but I don’t know how to put it in the calendar the best way.

If I right click and replaces the scheduled workout, I just have the group ride. If I just add the group ride that day, the scheduled workout does not change.

Can anyone guide me how to best schedule these type of changes?

Thanks

Hey @CaffeineNCadence

What if you just change the workout to a Zwift Race instead of a Group Ride when right clicking on it?

If you manually add workouts, like a Group Ride for that day it won’t change the scheduled workout. You’ll have to change the workout itself.

If the rides are shorter and you want to do more, you can add in a 30 minute workout and set up the Zwift ride how Caro suggested. You may want to schedule it time wise (specify it starts at 6pm if your other ride is at 5pm) so that it knows you aren’t fresh. Or if you are looking for a shorter ride, you could create something custom in Zwift to load afterwards.

So, what I’ve learned in this short time (also from this forum) is: simply ignore the workout and do the ride. TR will adjust the rest.

Yeah. That’s what I’ve been doing. It seems the AI just looks at what you’ve actually done irrespective of what the plan was, and then adapts the plan going forward. So far this year, I’ve been on a plan for 5 weeks and have only done some of the planned workouts. The weather has been uncharacteristically great so I’ve just been doing unstructured rides outside instead. I don’t associate those with anything and don’t delete the workouts I didn’t do. The plan keeps adapting as does my predicted AI FTP.
