A pretty good video from Keegan and Alexy on safety issues and possible solutions for gravel racing. It’s a tough problem with many of these races being just a step or 2 removed from being a big fast group ride on public roads. But all this stuff is good discussion and a lot of it applies to the amateur field as much as the pro field. And I’d argue that issues like traffic control, aid station chaos, and medical support are even worse at the amateur level.
I think they have some good ideas and some not so good ideas about how to improve safety, but the important thing is pushing the conversation forward and trying out new things to see what works. If I were a promotor, the feed zones would be one of the first things I’d look at improving. It’s a cluster at many of these races and could certainly be improved without spending big $’s.
