Rest weeks/tme across sports

I have always dabbled in triathlon, but this is going to be my first ‘running’ year where I exclusively run and hit the gym couple of times a week to get @Nate_Pearson arms :slight_smile:
I following Jack Daniels program (coach, not distiller) and its interesting that he use distance for intervals instead of time. The speed I’m running I sure I might train wrong energy systems, but that I’ll wing.
Another thing is no rest weeks in the 12 week program. I can only assume that especially with running rest weeks will be incredibly important or am I missing something? I find running SOOO hard and always been a slower recoverer.
