Recovery Following Overload Week

I am looking for advice on how to structure a recovery week following an overload week.

My extended family is going on vacation together at the end of April, which is five weeks from my A event. I am hoping to be able to rent a bike and get some rides in, but will definitely be below my normal volume. Therefore, I’m thinking about overloading the week prior to the vacation and then using the vacation week to recover.

What is the best way to structure the recovery week? How many days off of the bike should I plan before riding again? What should those first rides look like in terms of IF and duration? What else should I consider?

Also, I’ll take any advice on how to properly overload the week before vacation, too.
