Pro Cycling Thread 2024

So it seems like Astana will rise Chines Carbon Tech bikes next season.

With Decathlon and now Chinese Manufacturer in the pro peloton I wonder how that will shake up bike sales even further for the te more traditional brands…

If you live in the USA and fancy a Chinese bike, will they get more expensive once Trump starts imposing tariffs?

Just about everything is going to get more expensive. People here should brace for the worst.

As @lokerola nited, everything is about to get more expensive if the incoming administration follows through on what they campaigned on.

In regards to bikes specifically, many tariffs were already put in place during his first administration. As a result, many products shifted products back to Taiwan.

I would have to go find the HTS code for bike frames, but my supposition is that yes, you have to pay tariffs. If they aren’t in place already, they will be soon in all likelihood.

Has anyone seen a schedule of who will stream races in the US in 2025? I’m guessing NBC keeps the Tour and a few things, while Max keeps most of the rest of the season. I’m debating getting Max with their black Friday deal.

No changes have been announced, so it should be the same as this year…ASO races on Peacock, UCI-organized races on Flo and everything else on Max (in rough buckets). Remember, the ASP / Peacock deal just got renewed within the last year or so and goes for a number of years (maybe as far out as 2030? Can’t remember for sure)

So far, the extra charge for the B/R channel has never materialized, so if you get MAX, you get the sports stuff (and I probably just jinxed the whole thing.)

That’s what I thought. Thanks. I picked up the Max season sale for 6 month cheap (with ads). Should get me through the best of the season.

The streaming on Peacock is such a mess. Don’t look forward to managing that again this year.

seems strange some big names going to second tier/ conti teams… seems like they have to have the cash? and Pidcock gets to set his own schedule?

For Q36.5, I believe they have a very wealthy owner (who can therefore afford Pidcock’s contract), and signing a marquis rider is a good way to get at-large invitations to major events. For Pidcock, presumably he gets to do lots of MTB events if he wants, and also is the undisputed leader, which seems like something his ego requires.

So he’ll be on Scott this year.

I think that’s also a bit of an open question. As I understand it Q36.5’s wealthy owner also owns (or owns a company that controls??) Pinarello. Given how closely Pidders worked with Pinarello especially on MTB stuff there’s some speculation Pinarello could replace Scott, though I believe Scott have a contract to supply their bikes at least through next season…

And it is official:

Higuita to Astana next year?..…Astana seems to be the last stop for many riders on their way out.

Wow. Kate Courtney leaving Scott after 6 years.
