Everesting. So hot right now
Ha!
Payson McElveen did a mtb/singletrack one yesterday.
Insert everesting meme here
I’d like to propose a new thing called “Mariana Trenching”, where a rider descends the depth of the Mariana Trench, 36,201 feet.
The rider must descend the full elevation by lapping a single road/trail (no loops).
On each lap, the rider must climb back to the top under his/her own power. Rider will be timed for total elapsed time including all descending and climbing.
FAQ
Q: Isn’t this pretty much Everesting?
A: No
Q: How is it different than Everesting, other than the total elevation?
A: Yes

It counts as long as he got up to elevation under his own power.
P.S. I’ve been telling a buddy of mine that I’ll give him $50 when he nails a backflip/frontfilp combo in the same jump. I guess it IS possible.
Why haven’t we seen a congratulatory post from Keegan yet!!!
I’m being sarcastic of course. Just pointing out the rediculousness.
Kinda lame actually, considering the fastest Everesting on foot is just over 8 hours.
But it wasn’t on strxva so it probably didn’t happen.
Dude. Base Camp is not at sea level.
Not only will he not get the “official” mark because he didn’t do all the repeats on one hill, but his time of 7:28 doesn’t include about 25 minutes of stopped time - his actual time from beginning to end is 7:53 on Strava. So Keegan still holds the official and unofficial record.
Bruce
That’s a bad headline, as the article goes on to say that he actually didn’t follow the rules of Everesting.
So no, he didn’t break the Everesting record since he did a different kind of ride. Seems silly to go through all that effort, and not follow the rules in what looks like an easily avoidable way.
As we all know (@Jonathan ) ‘everesting’ can be different to Everesting.
It’s like running 26.2miles on your own vs. ‘Running a marathon’.
Shout out to a cycling friend and former National Hill Climb champ Adam Kenway who did a Veveresting on Zwift on Monday and then an IRL everesting yesterday. Unofficially as yet, but looks to be a UK record.

He is just crazy doing two in a week! Did you get over to support him? I was hoping to but didn’t have the time in the end.
No I didn’t get chance to get over there, some great pics taken though, perfect day for it.
And he got the only tailwind Derbyshire has had in weeks haha
It pays to read the rules before smashing yourself for 7+ hours!
That’s definitely good advice
But also, he is a pro… so smashing himself for 7+ hours is kind of happening on a regular basis anyway.
