Any word on if Outside AI FTP detection is in the works? Serious answers here, no complaints, as there more than enough in a variety of threads. I am just curious.

My understanding is that it already looks at outdoor rides.

>
> This is one of the benefits of using a model as opposed to using an estimate. We don’t simply estimate your FTP based on outdoor power data (which is often reads higher than indoors). Instead, we include your outdoor power data in addition to the various data points we already have to predict your FTP.

There is a requirement to complete 10 TR workouts inside to start, then outside rides and workouts with power data do get included for AI FTP Detection.

## What AI FTP Detection Needs to Detect Your FTP

In order for AI FTP Detection to have enough data to accurately detect your FTP, **you need a minimum of 10 completed TrainerRoad indoor workouts**. If you haven’t completed enough workouts, don’t stress—you’ll see how many more you need when you click the button to use the feature. Once you’ve completed these 10 workouts, AI FTP Detection will analyze and incorporate all indoor and outdoor rides with power data, whether or not they’re TrainerRoad workouts.

So, from what I can tell, there is no outside AI FTP without an indoor trainer, at least initially? I wonder if that initial necessity will go away at some point.

- Correct.

- They originally offered AI FTP Detection without the 10 inside workout requirement. But it seems there were issues with some of the FTP results that TR setup the requirements to improve accuracy. The inside workouts seem to be a baseline of sorts, so it can better assess the outside workouts (my guess at least).

- Perhaps there will be better info at some loiok at such that they can return to offering it for outside efforts only, but we don’t know and i wouldn’t bet on it at this point.

I let AT FTP continue to estimate my FTP through a summer of non-structured outdoor rides and by fall, it still thought I basically had the same FTP I had when I came out of the previous spring’s structured training. Both it and garmin agreed within a few percent honestly. I jumped back into structured training with that FTP and it turned out to be 30 watts or so too high.

Not sure how much I trust it based on outdoor rides.

Hmm not sure if anyone knows but is there a way to get AI FTP to ignore my outside rides?

I know the outside Power data is not the only data point etc, but my power readings outside are 50W higher than indoors so I’m afraid it’ll be wildly inaccurate, even if it was just used as a data point.

If you go into “edit” for a ride you’ll get this box

You can de-select AI FTP Detection. I’m not aware of a way to globally ignore all outdoor rides for AI FTP.

Thanks for this! Will use this for future rides, but there’s no way I can do this for past rides since there’s so many 😕

I just joined TR last week tho (but it’s imported all my old rides from Strava), so still pending my AI FTP (10 indoor rides)

If you just joined there’s no need to worry about editing your older rides. I think AI FTP is only going to look at the previous 28 days to come up with an FTP.
Welcome aboard!

Btw, I noticed another option to uncheck is Progression Levels. Do you know if it reads outdoor rides’ Power as one of the inputs to determine Prog Levels too? If so I’ll need to uncheck that too.
