Olympic Triathlon training run workouts under yellow light warning

Every time I get a yellow light warning its after a hard bike session and its always the run workout that gets impacted. It makes sense since run workouts come after the bike but I wonder if bike workouts should be less hard? I’m am following bike workouts using a bike training in erg mode. I cant predict the future when starting a bike workout since the yellow warning comes after the workout…

Hey! This is exciting—stoked you’re here!

It looks like your current plan is increasing your volume, which is intended as you build toward your race. But since your training has been a little inconsistent recently, the adaptations you’re seeing are designed to help you build from where you are, regain momentum, and rebuild consistency—while helping you avoid accumulating excess fatigue.

As you keep training, recovering well, and becoming more consistent, the amount of training stress your body can handle will grow—and you’ll likely see fewer Yellow days over time.

Also worth noting: I saw you’ve been doing strength training on the same day as your harder bike workouts. That can definitely add to your fatigue levels and might be triggering more Yellow days than you’d see otherwise. I totally get wanting to fit everything in (there’s never enough hours, right?), but we can’t always add everything we want all at once without it affecting how we feel.

Depending on your priorities, you have a couple of options. You could reduce your strength training for now or adjust the timing so it’s not stacked with high-intensity bike days. Alternatively, if strength work is a high priority right now, you could use Workout Alternates to select a Workout with a similar difficulty and workout profile as your original workout, but a little shorter. This will slightly reduce the training stress of your bike workouts to balance the load.

The good news? As your consistency improves and your body adapts, you’ll be able to gradually take on more. TrainerRoad will help you pace that progression in a sustainable way so you stay on track and feeling good.

I hope this helps. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions :heart_hands:.
