I’ve spent some frustrating hours this week looking for a few obscure parts for an older Cervelo TT bike. The parts I need are small plastic parts that are not structural, but act as covers for a few areas of the bike. I can understand that there may not be enough of a market for the MFGs to maintain an inventory of small bits and pieces indefinitely, but it seems like the way of the future may be for them to sell a 3D print file for these obscure items, Are any of the MFGs doing this? Seems like it may be a pretty efficient way to minimize customer frustrations when people can’t find their widget and still get a little trickle of revenue without the associated inventory or supply chain hassles.
Have you tried eBay?
(Edit: Ignore this - it seems I was unable to read )
Maybe 3D printing? It‘s a thing in an other hobby with lots of old/hard to find parts.
I’m not certain how to search for them, but there are apparently different 3D printing boards / forums where you can source 3D printed items like this.
- Yes, he suggested precisely that already (see below for reference), with the adder / wish that the MFG actually supply the 3D model for the process.
- Plenty of people have the skill to make models like this, but getting actual data from the maker would be ideal.
