New to tr...want to ride LONG hours, don't care about speed

First things first, find a decent bike fitter. If you have to travel to do it then it’s worth it, especially if you’re going to be on the bike all day. I doubt you’re in the UK, but if you are then I can recommend someone.

Find a bike shop that sells shoes from different brands. Just because brand x works for some people it doesn’t mean it will work for you. A decent bike fitter should be able to help you with this.

Decent bib shorts make all the difference. You’ll soon find out what works when you’re fixed to a turbo trainer.

Once you’ve got the above sorted, then just go and ride and build up the time / mileage as you see fit. Enjoy it and worry about training later.
