Hello everyone, I’m new to this platform. I haven’t signed up for a program yet, but I’m considering it. I train a couple of times a week and also do running and sport climbing. I do outdoor training and I’m about to buy Favato Assioma Duo Power Meters to track my progress and gather more statistics, paired with my Garmin 830. I don’t have a smart trainer for indoor training yet, but I’ll get one before the winter starts. Which program would you recommend for me? A multisport program for outdoor athlete
What do you want to get better at?
Hey there and welcome to the TR community!
TrainerRoad offers a lot of different plans, so as @billytheconq said, it’ll be important to consider what aspect of your fitness you want to improve when choosing a plan.
It sounds like you’ve got some other outdoor activities beyond cycling in your routine, so I think a good starting point would be choosing a Low-Volume plan. That will give you 3 workouts per week with plenty of extra time to schedule in some unstructured riding, running, or climbing you’d like to do outside of your structured plan.
You can also check out Plan Builder, which takes out the guess work in selecting a plan that’s right for you! Plan Builder will apply a custom plan to your TR Calendar based on the demands of your goal event (or training goal if you don’t have an event), how much training stress you can tolerate, and what your schedule is like when building your plan.
Our workouts can also be completed outside – that’s personally how I do 99% of my workouts. You can do them based on rate of perceived exertion if you don’t have a power meter yet, but I think you’ll like the Assioma pedals if those are on the way – that’s what I have on my own bike as well!
Hopefully this is helpful info for you as you’re starting out! Feel free to let me or TR Support know if you have any other questions.
