Hi,

I recently ordered a Specialized Diverge Elite E5 as my first Gravel Bike. It replaces my old Rock Hopper. The Diverge Elite E5 has the Shimano GRX RX600 46/30T Crankset. Was just wondering what sort of options I should consider for a power meter? Pedal power meters are pretty expensive and I do use speedplay (non-power) on my road bike but that bike is now pretty much a permanent part of my Kickr. I actually have favero unos but will likely sell them. Just no desire to wear road shoes. So I was thinking about power meter for the crankset. It would be something I’d have to install and I’ve never done that before.

Sean

Garmin sells pedals in SPD format, called Rally XC100/XC200 ( singles-sided or double-sided). Expensive, yes, but can easily be moved across bikes.
I have the single sided version and I like them.

If you want a crank based power meter my recommendation would be a quarq: rock solid, good history of being accurate and measures total power (left + right combined).

You should be able to go with a stages as well. That would give you more flexibility on the pedals you use.

The cheapest might be the $160 xt 4iiii crank arm at the pro closet. You might have to play with spacers a bit to get the Q-factor even, but it would work.

4iiii/Stages LH cranks are a really accessible and flexible option, and they both do GRX810 which is a straight swap for your 600 series. I’ve got them on two bikes because of purchase price and the fact none of the SPD pedals had come out when I got my first. Only thing I wish I’d considered at the time is now that I have 3 bikes with LH crank PMs (including a road bike), I feel like if I ever switched to something that measures both sides on one bike then I’d have to switch on all of them for my training numbers to be useably consistent across all platforms. So it’s worth considering future purchases too.

If you’ve already got the Favero Unos then the absolute lowest cost option may be to put Xpedo SPD pedal bodies on them - search in forum (or pretty much anywhere on the internet) for a tutorial. Again maybe not the best long term option, but could get maybe you going for less than $100.

Many thanks all. I ended up ordering Garmin’s Rally XC100 SPD using the really great black Friday deal at REI that I learnt via @dcrainmaker 's listing ([The Massive Sports Tech Deals List! | DC Rainmaker](https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2022/11/massive-sports-deals.html)). My DIverge Elite got damaged in the shipping and I returned it and opted for a deal on a Cannondale Topstone 1 Alloy at my LBS instead. And since they use an FSA Omega AGX+ crankset, the Rallys seemed like a good choice. I’m not adventurous enough to convert my Favero Assiomo (single) and can keep them with my road bike.
