Never ending FTP increase?

Thanks! This is encouraging. I’ve been hammering the bike for the last year, but it wasn’t until the last 2 months (after the Boston Marathon cancellation) that I decided to do best effort on cycling, instead of running… My running is suffering but my cycling is getting better.
I’m hoping the power I’m gaining from the bike translate to running some point.

The stronger you are on the bike, the more fresh you can be for the rub to take advantage of your abilities there.

My biggest hold out is that I’ve been a decent enough runner for a while (usual 18s 5k with a PR of 1743).

Since I took on biking my 5k has gone up to 1915 and I’m running much slower on training runs.

But I need to change my mind…I’m not a runner I am a triathlete

Exactly right. If you can gain 2:00 on the bike by sacrificing 1:00 on the run, you’re a minute faster! It’s about what gives you the fastest swim-bike-run, and a lot of times a stronger bike leg will do just that. That balance can be a tough one to strike.
