Mixing coaching with a TR plan?

A coach in our area has a training studio that offers power based training 1-2 times per week. He will assess FTP, use computrainers and designs the workouts. I think that I can still follow a plan (will most likely be SSB2) and use the calendar feature to plan around it. It’s expensive compared to TR, but affordable. The main reason I want to do this is for variety and to get to know other athletes in our community. Have any of you done something similar? Thoughts?
