I don’t get it how am I supposed to measure the pressure in my tires. Had a floor pump with gauge, insert the hose in the presta valve… no measure stays at zero. I thought that it’s broken, bought new one, same thing. I need to deflate the tire and inflate it with to the desired pressure. What I am missing?
Are you unscrewing the small, captive metal nut at the very top of the presta valve? Another thought, If you are using a tubeless setup the whole valve could be clogged.
Floor pumps often don’t show accurate pressure until you pump a little air in. So attach it, and then do a small pump. It should then give you the pressure reading.
if you don’t mind spending a few dollars the new battery inflators have a built in pressure sensor. Set the pressure and it shuts off at the desired pressure. You can then donate the mechanical pump to your local thrift store.
I do unscrew it, I run tubes and I am about to go tubeless in few days.

Most valves don’t open until there’s a higher pressure on the outside than inside the tire. You’ll have to reach this pressure by pumping before you’ll be able to gauge the actual pressure as the pump only knows the pressure in its chamber (which becomes equal to the tire pressure once the valve is open)
Or switch e.g. to Clik valves which open immediately once the pump head is placed on the valve.

Don’t work I really don’t know why. It’s really simple.
I am a bit more cautious for the pressure as it makes riding more comfortable, but I can’t even measure it properly. Gauges on the Gas station work better than my new 30€ floor pump. Did not want to Spent mote thinking this is enough money for pump. I have old compressor used for construction I better buy gouge for it and try it.
You are better off buying a little digital tyre pressure gauge anyway than relying on the gauge of a floor pump. None of the floor pumps I’ve owned have been particularly accurate. Something like this: AIRCHECKER: digital tire pressure gauge | SKS GERMANY

Does your pump build up pressure at all, e.g do you hear it pumping air into the tire or it gets harder to pump as you go?
You could also try closing the valve by screwing it shut and then trying to pump. If it gets harder and the dial still doesn’t move, the dial is probably either stuck or broken. If it’s new, maybe try to get a refund. If it’s old, some companies like SKS offer replacement parts.
So you can’t pump air into the tire and get a reading? This is really odd.
I don’t get readings when the tire is filled with air. i have to deflate it to zero and fill it to the desired pressure depends if I am doing gravel or road. I can’t just plug it check what’s the pressure and then deflate it a bit to lower pressure for gravel.
It pumps fine, I will probably buy separate device for measurements.
So when you put the chuck onto the valve (and clamp it, if necessary), and then give the pump a quick pump (to open the tire valve, and pressurize the hose), your gauge doesn’t register any pressure?

That seems very strange, especially if the gauge does seem to work if the tire has been completely deflated.
I guess by now we’d need pictures or video of the pump and the process for any further ideas. In theory it should work…
