How does this work, if I am taking off 2-3 weeks from training do I stop lifting too? Or lift heavier? Or maintenance? Or what? Thanks
PS details are…50’s, racing and training for >30 years, lift weights 2-3X/wk, would like to avoid losing muscle mass…but would appreciate a break too.
You won’t lose any muscle mass during a short break (your neuromuscular connections may weaken a little) - it’ll probably do you some good to have a period of total rest (does for me).
I would mix it up and switch to 1/week rather than total rest. Heavy yard work/DIY could substitute too.
If you want to take a break take a break. It’s good for body and mind. You’re not losing muscle mass to any significant extent in 2-3 weeks.
