There is SO much room inside of levels. Let me give you an example

These are the same difficulty:
300 FTP - Level 10
330 FTP - Level 4.9

So if you over test, we bring you down. If you under test, we bring you up.

The powerful combination is really Ramp + AT (and soon to be AI FTP Detection + AT).

And I do agree that Ramp Test alone without AT was aimed at the bell curve of cyclists.

Adaptive Training was designed to give us more fine-grain control. It was thought of and work started on Adaptive Training before we had the ramp test.

It was going to help us with the same issues with the 20 minute, 8 minute, or even an all-out hour effort for a test; you just don’t know how the other zones will relate to their FTP or how successfully they executed the test.
