Kickr BIKE V2 - power accuracy

Power accuracy of specific trainers and dual-recording power mismatches was a much-discussed topic leading into and shortly after a recent national Esports championship, with several riders being annulled in qualifiers, then deciding not to race nationals because their equipment didn’t meet the dual-recording standards in place, and unfortunately, a couple were also annulled from the championship races. In almost every case I saw mentioned, one specific brand was in use.

Likely if I was doing virtual racing that required dual recording I’d likely have issues given the differences I seem to have between my kickr bike v2 and assiomas. I need to do some dual recording and compare.

luckily I’m not a serious racer so it’s not something I’ll need to worry about. I’ve had an elite direto and kickr bike v1 and now kickr bike v2. The v2 is the only one that’s had significant differences with my other PMs

Which brand?

As long as the power offset percent between the power meter and trainer is consistent, you can adjust the slope/power on your power meter so that it is in line with your kickr/trainer, and use it as dual recording with no issues.

That’s true but the problem is the kickr bike power is the outlier. My assiomas and sram crank power numbers line up. I’m going to also compare my assiomas with my power2max spider pm but I also expect them to be close. And I don’t know that there is a way to adjust the kickr bike power offset.

My assiomas were just being used on my MTB because it seemed like the kickr bike v1 aligned closely to my other PMs. So what I may end up doing is leaving the assiomas on the kickr bike v2 and only remove them when I need to use my MTB

I had the same experience. Quarq single arm vs MX-2’s, off by 2 watts. Kickr Shift, short by 6% consistently.

Official answer from Wahoo was that the difference in drivetrain efficiency (isn’t that the benefit of the belt drive?) + PM accuracy between the two devices can cover that spread…which I feel is pretty untrue. Basically 1% + 1% = 6% according to them.

Yeah. If I have multiple power meters that match and in my case my old v1 kickr bike matched but now my kickr bike v2 is way off then to me the kickr bike v2 is the outlier and seemingly incorrect
