Before the switch to TR AI, my plan had a pretty regular 3 week on 1 week off schedule. After, it gave me a block of 5 weeks on, right as I was due for a rest week. I was on the ‘Aggressive’ plan from the start. I manually changed the plan to have recovery (this is the last week in Jan with a low TSS in my attached picture) and it actually slightly increased my predicted FTP change. That seemed to me like shouldn’t happen if the system were trying to maximize my FTP increases in preparation for my event. In short, should I manually change my plan again to reduce TSS after 5 weeks on?
Has this happened to anyone else since the switch? Is it just normal to have so few rest weeks given the ‘Aggressive’ plan I’m following and the timing of my upcoming B (March 26) and A (April 28) events? My fatigue isn’t too bad, but I hear frequently on the podcast and elsewhere that rest weeks are where the adaptations occur. Just wondering if I should trust the system here or if it could be a potential bug with the program.
The easy fourth week looked harder last block. I just ignored the suggestion to ride days at high endurance and just kept things easy except the event I had the last day.
Yeah the ‘rest’ week I get after a 5 week block is 10 h of only endurance and two full days off, and they used to be 3-4. It’s still high TSS but lower relative intensity. I guess the question becomes will you still get good adaptation if you’re doing 3-5 rides for 2 h at 75%. Trust the AI or trust the general wisdom.
It looks like your rhythm got out of whack at some point and hasn’t ever fully returned.
I just rebuilt your plan with a start date one week back from when it was originally, and you now have one four-week stretch, followed by three weeks on, one week off for the remainder of your plan.
Since your plan likely had an odd number of weeks, you can’t actually have perfect four-week blocks (three on, one off) each week. This one, longer, five-week block (four on, one off), is your best option given that it’s your last block before you ramp up to your B and A races in a few weeks.
