My son is getting more into riding and I want to get him reasonably priced booties and gloves for colder rides of two to three hours.
Look into Rock Bros brand.

Yes, this. And, depending on where you live, rockbros has inexpensive pogies (bar mitts)-I have raynauds syndrome and the shoe covers and pogies changed EVERYTHING. Summer full finger gloves down to about 20 deg f with the pogies; warmer gloves if it’s colder than that , but I don’t wear full winter gloves at all any more. The feet are good with covers to the low teens.

Try GribGrab stuff , I find their stuff is better quality for the money than RockBros.
