How to adapt 2x8 week plans to fit into 14 weeks


I have a 4 day MTB stage race in 14 weeks and am looking at doing short power build and then the speciality XC marathon programs which are both 8 weeks so 16 weeks in total. How best do I adapt these to fit 14 weeks? Drop a week from both or 2 weeks out of one of them?

I will do low volume so I can add additional long rides at the weekend and time on the MTB whilst still completing the plan.

I would drop the last two from the specialty phase, personally. I’m not a coach or physiologist, so weight my opinion accordingly.
