I’m doing an A event on Saturday (100ish miles, 14K of climbing) and my plan has me doing two 45 min VO2 max workouts this week, the second of which is two days before the event. The duration is short but intensity rather high with not a lot of recovery time before the race. I’ve noticed this pattern since the upgrade. Previously, the algorithm would give me openers or some basic endurance with some short efforts. Since the latest upgrade it has me doing high intensity right up until the event. Is this intentional? I get doing some openers but 3 sets of 5 x 1 min at 125% FTP sounds a bit intense. Just curious. Thanks.
30-45 minute workouts on race week are pretty typical.
I think if you had a TR workout or nothing scheduled the day before your race, you’d get openers on that day, but I don’t think Solo/Group rides adapt to structured workouts, which is why you might not see them.
If you want easier or shorter workouts this week, you can find them in Workout Alternates.
Let me know if this helps.
Welcome to the forum, by the way, and good luck at your race! ![]()
Hi Eddie,
I did a slightly easier VO2 workout and felt surprisingly good. The next day I ended up doing 90 minutes zone 1/2 instead of the 30 minutes on my calendar. I had great legs Saturday. Good learning experience. #trusttheprocess.
I’m glad to hear that!
