Right, so force/torque go up to compensate for cadence going down (Power = Force x Velocity).
When you’re on flat road/constant speed and you shift from the little ring to the big ring, your cadence goes down and your pedal force/torque goes up to maintain the same power/speed.
Did Taylor +2 today…it freaking hurt. I did the first 20 interval set in resistance mode…so smooth and could hit the target and hold it…did the last two sets in ERG…had to spin 95-100 to avoid the ERG spiral…it would take 8-10 seconds to hit target power…then it seemed I had to increase cadence to hold the target…then when the interval is over suddenly your are spinning 110 with no resistance. So the 30 second V02 max intervals are doable in ERG but are probably more manageable and more realistic in resistance mode.
