Why was the Apple Watch your every day instead of the Forerunner?
More features. Read and respond to texts. Voice to text. Voice commands like check weather and start timers. Touch screen. Better screen in general (why the AMOLED is appealing). Slimmer profile. Just way more Apple features like calendar reminders. I know I won’t get a lot of the Apple ecosystem features but the new screens on the Garmin are a huge upgrade to me. My Apple watch is a few models old at this point so I was looking for something new and the newer Garmin watches look nice. Wanted something different. But the 935 never really gave me anything super awesome that made me want to drop the Apple Watch.
I would say when it comes to Apple vs. Garmin watches, it honestly just comes down to “Do you want a smartwatch that’s ok at being a fitness watch, or do you want a fitness watch that has a couple light smartwatch features?”. Sounds like you prefer owning a smartwatch. I own an Epix and it has a great AMOLED screen, but it’s 98% fitness watch.
I’m rarely far away enough from my phone for any of those Apple Watch features to have any value. I like that my Garmin watch needs charging about once a month. It shows text notifications. Its sufficient for what I need. I prefer a fitness watch with some smart features over a smartwatch.
I grabbed a Fenix 7x Pro Sapphire Solar for $649 a few days ago (looks like the price has risen $100) - very happy so far. Upgraded from the 6x. Its a luxury. There’s no function I can do with the new watch that I can’t with the old one but the new one does everything better. Amazon.com: Garmin fēnix 7X Pro Sapphire Solar, Multisport GPS Smartwatch, Built-in Flashlight, Solar Charging Capability, 010-02778-10, Black : Electronics
Anyway, thought I should steer the conversation back toward a deal.
Epix is fantastic. I’ve had one for a couple years and almost never take it off.
I’ve got an Epix 2. Great watch. I know hard core types don’t like the OLED, but I like it. It’s nice and bright. And I never leave civilization for very long.
Epic world cup sworks frames on sale for $2999 if you can find your size on a dealer
TrainingPeaks is 25% off right now. If I already own WKO5, does TrainingPeaks offer any analysis tools that WKO5 doesn’t have? I know there’s Virtual now so there’s that.
To me (and I’m no expert, just a happy user) TP’s strength is the calendar, building workouts, and planning/analyzing my overall workload. WKO ignores all that, and is entirely about analyzing the performance obtained within those workouts.
I see them as complementary, with little duplication. But in the analysis tools, I highly doubt TP has tools that WKO5 does not include.
Bike24:
Shimano GRX610 2x12 groupset 50% off
Campy Super Record EPS groupset 70% off
TP is used by a lot of Coaches to prescribe workouts and also provide feedback for workouts. The coaches ive worked woth have always used WKO though for analysis.
The workout creator in TP is super easy to use and everything syncs into TR automatically if you have your accounts linked.
Enve tires BOGO Black Friday – ENVE Composites USA
Update: Doesn’t work on Raceday
I was hoping the SES Raceday tires would qualify
Finally got around to using the wko code to buy and it already expired. Dang lol.
anyone using enve tires? how do they compare to corsa or gp5k? switched to corsa from gp5k and they are a lot more comfortable, wondering how the enve compares, price is good at $37.5
Not sure if off-topic: This year I compared black friday prices with other sales the brands had year round and made an excel (don‘t ask ). Had the old sales from orders, friends orders, a bit from the web. Also I noted if sales applied to a selection or all of the products (often hard to find).
It seems that Black friday was often the mildest sale in percentage. The exception was Le Col which had around 50% (you may still get cheaper with a Strava code). But it seems that at black friday the sale-out was slower, the chance is higher of getting what you want. E.g. Velocio summer sale-out is cheaper and faster.
I looked at mainly clothing brands: Velocio, Castelli, Assos and some smaller ones etc.
I think that happens a lot now because stores/brands know that people wait until Black Friday and then just assume it’s the best sale of the year.
That being said, I think there are a couple that were the best sale. TrainingPeaks was 25% off which I don’t think they offer any other time. The Favero Assioma pedals I think only get discounts at Black Friday (I don’t recall others). WKO5 only has a discount once a year around Black Friday.
Back to your post. You’re going to have to post the data so we know when to buy clothing at the best price.
Lordgun has lots of good deals on tires and Shimano stuff. I ordered some 12 speed Ultegra chains for $28 each and stocked up on some tires too.
I am glad my suspicion is now supported with Data (nerds unite!). That being said, the NinjaMTB ramp sale was better than I had seen previously and I had been keeping my eye on them. I pulled the trigger on one of those for the kids team I manage.
there are a couple apps that allow you to easily see prices over time for items on Amazon. One I use is an iPhone app called Keepa and you can setup notifications for when an item drops to a certain price or is discounted a certain %
