CTL Check! Dec/2024

Almost on your spiral, from 109 end of August to 71.
Not my choice with two little superspreaders around in winter season.

Genuinely shocked to see in this article that TR shows CTL.

Where is this illusive figure ?

I used to see it when on TP & now track it using excel & math lol

TR does not show CTL

But it does show your 6 week daily average TSS. You will find that on the TSS chart at the top of your calendar page. Just hover over one of the weekly bars and it pops up.

My bad, I misunderstood cnidos post (think its #480) mentioning both TR & TP using actual CTL.

That is the post that made me investigate.

I posted what I found in #488

77 CTL as of today…still -6 from this time last year, but I was doing more volume last year in prep for Unbound. The good thing is that after 2 months off the bike in August and September, I am +34 over the last 90 days, so a nice rebound.

Trying a new training program this year, so we’ll see how it works out. Definitely having a hard time taking my hands off the wheel!

Say more

Not a lot to say, really……hired a coach for the first time after self-coaching until now.

Definitely hard to adjust to letting go, but I wanted to address some specific weaknesses (extended VO2 max efforts) and switch a focus to “shorter”, faster races this year (still long gravel races, but under 100 miles).

So far, it has been OK. Pretty basic start to program and I am definitely pulling at the leash. Anxious to see what the coming weeks have in store. I am heading to Taiwan this weekend for a few days and will bring a bike for some climbing efforts, which will be good for me mentally instead of mostly Z2 week.

I’d be curious what these training blocks look like once you get there.

You and me, both!!

Excuse incoming

The cold weather has kyboshed my plans for riding outside this week so far. There is a chance of a ride out tomorrow, but let’s see. Also, it is so cold in my shed that I have cut short my workouts on Thursday (-16 TSS), Friday (-42TSS) and Saturday (-64TSS) due to my ipad not working properly out there. /excuse

If the sun stays out as it moves round to shine on my shed, I might get another hour in today. Otherwise, I am at 487 for the week so far, against a target of 700 with just one (cold) day to go.

Intervals has fitness 102, fatigue 87, form 15, meaning I might just scrape through the week with my 100 CTL target intact if I get a decent day in tomorrow.

EDIT: The sun melted the frost on the shed roof, which I took as a sign to get back out there. Mount Field put 62TSS in the bag for 104/95/9 fitness/fatigue/form.

It’s a bit disheartening to see how quickly it drops. After reaching new highs, I needed a few days for some work around the house and now it has dropped 5 or 6 points which will take a bit of time to recover without going into the red zone. Sigh.

I guess this time of year I always regress towards the mean…

That must be that consistancy people keep talking about.
