My wife’s Canyon. Di2 12 speed w/ wireless shifters.
2 years on old batteries. She had a spare set from a year ago, ‘good till 2032’
Replaced batteries on R and L shifters. (Lights on both sides tested green, but 2 years old)
Right shifter worked fine left did not.
Checked voltage.
Old battery 3.07v, new battery 3.3v.
Put old battery back in L shifter, now it works fine.
Measured thickness of old battery - 3.2 mm. New battery 3.02mm
Both old and new are Duracell, CR1632.

I suggested taking a bit of foil and folding it to make it a tad thicker. If she has to change batteries on the road.

Anyone else have an issue w/ battery thickness?

I suppose I could tweak the contacts inside the shifter, but… not my bike.

Just wondering if this is an issue at all or just her particular bike

Sometimes those batteries have a bitter coating that can prevent a good electrical contact that needs to be sanded off

Yeah. Some Duracell batteries have a bitter coating to reduce the chances of a child swallowing them. It can interfere with good electric contact. The the coating can be removed with isopropanol, though it’s better to get batteries without it.

I did wipe the new batteries w/ alcohol, but maybe a little more aggressive method like sanding w/ very fine grit might work.
Thanks for the input.

I don’t think abrasive is necessary. They are intended to work with the coating, it’s just that some devices seem more sensitive to it than others. For the heck of it I looked up the nominal dimensions for a CR2032 and got 20mm x 3.2mm, both +/- 0.2mm tolerance, so your 3.02mm battery is still within spec. I know on sram shifters, it’s easy to bend the edge contacts and have problems. IDK about the Di2 shifters.
