Average Intensity per Week/Block

Hey y’all,

This may be a simple question, but I was curious how others have quantified the average training intensity in a week or block? For example, you could take the average of the IFs from all sessions in a week, but that would seemingly fail to account for duration of each session. Does anyone know of the accepted way (or a useful one) to quantify a week or block’s average intensity?

I think probably what you’re looking for is a time-weighted intensity. For each workout, take the IF * time, add all those values up, and divide by the total workout time. I don’t know if this is useful.

Intervals.icu has a CIL (Chronic Intensity Load) metric similar to CTL (Chronic Training Load) which should be what you’re after, or pretty close at least.
