38 years young and this app is still helping me knock out PBs that I never would’ve dreamed in my 20s or early 30s.
That’s a great ride! Being a PB, was that a 100% effort? If so, I’m curious why you didn’t rate it as all out instead of very hard?
I did a very similar ride yesterday for just over 3 hrs as a test of my fitness levels. (Had a race this morning but weather was pretty rough so I rode the course at the same effort yesterday). Being it was a 100% effort, I rated it all out. I had a .88 IF and best my previous 3 hr power PR by 18 watts.
I don’t like that it describes the workout now as “too intense” as that was the intent of my workout and think that 100% efforts like that around 6-8x per year is reasonable.
I didn’t rate it all out because I was in a pack of 15 or so and while the attacks and counterattacks were the hardest racing I’ve ever experienced, I was still able to sit in the musks of the pack at times and recover. It was like one really long Vo2/Threshold workout
My idea of hell - very well done on the impressive PB
Makes sense! As a newer rider/racer, some things still come as a bit of a surprise, but make sense when I look at the big picture. It’s wild how different the power curve is between a 100% solo ride all out effort, vs racing in a pack and all out effort.
