2020 Tour de France Discussion

I was watching the live feed and the first thing I said when they should the medics standing over him was “oh damn, he’s definitely got a concussion”. And he was only on screen for like 5 seconds. He was moving slowly and just strangely, almost exactly like he was falling asleep. It did not look good at all.

Holy schitt…Is Bennet gonna abandon?

Nah

But The Tractor wasn’t happy at the Bora rider laughing then.

Embarrassing

Yep. Head injuries and concussions in cycling for some reason hasn’t gotten the same attention as it has in other sports.

Rugby has done a great job identifying head injuries and pulling players out of games when they show signs. All sports should be the same - pull the participant when they have a head injury.

My money is on WvA to take the stage. Sagan has started to look like he’s coming into form, but I think Wout can still take him heads up.

Perfectly timed move by SKA and Sunweb!

An ok transition stage. It gives the non GC teams some chance to please sponsors. In the absence of big stakes, we are deprived of the best of the best going at it…I guess, in a 3 week contest we must endure these type of stages.

Tomorrow, on the other hand :ok_hand:t3::ok_hand:t3::ok_hand:t3:

As an aside, US should come up with a 12 day grand tour and design the route in such a way that every stage matters for GC, with big prize money. Do away with sprint and mountain points.

Cheers

Glad you don’t run ASO or the UCI

You do realise that if ‘every stage mattered for GC’ then the race wouldn’t in all likelihood actually be ridden that way?

Well, I said 12 but optimize that number to the max # of stages that minimize transition stages. Also, the route design is huge. We already know that in the 5 stage races this guys go hard every stage. So the ideal number is in the range 5-12, perhaps. Another idea es that flat stages should be time trial only. H

So 12 time trials then?
They are normally the most important GC stages.

They already tried.

‘Nuff said.

You’re entitled to your own opinion, but you don’t need a GC battle to make it a good and entertaining stage.

That buffoon’s ignorance and narcissism was on display back then,at the end of the stage in NYC (I think), he got on the podium and declared that the next year they were going to go coast-to-coast. In interviews afterwards, Mike Plant and others were left saying “I don’t know anything about that.”

Sound at all familiar?

LoL

The question still stands. Why doesn’t the US have a Grand Tour?. H

Yeah. I wouldn’t suggest changing anything about the current Grand Tours. But since the US doesn’t one, and road racing is dying here…
